Origin of Goods and Preferences

All processes for preference processing directly in SAP

Preference processing with all the individual steps can be very time-consuming. With our help, you can handle the entire process directly in SAP.

A container ship loaded with many colorful containers is sailing across the sea.

This is how complex processes can be automated

Determining the preferential origin of goods is a must for many companies - regardless of whether they export themselves or pass on the advantage to their customers. However, all requirements must be met and proof must be available. If you cannot do this, or if mistakes are made, the products will be imported at the normal customs rate, which can put you at a competitive disadvantage.

The requirement of the Vendor Declaration, the preference calculation and the output of the supplier declaration: Processing all individual steps of preference processing manually is often time-consuming and prone to errors.

On top of that, these processes are hardly covered in SAP's ERP systems. The alternative, therefore, is to carry out all the steps manually, making calculations and carrying out assessments. In the process, errors can occur that, in the worst case, mean that import duties are subsequently levied.

With our SAP-based extensions, you can automate the time-consuming tasks. Handling the processes directly in SAP thus saves a lot of time. On top of that, you can be sure that your results can stand up to scrutiny.

Our process solutions

With tools from WSW you can handle all individual processes of preference processing directly within SAP.

Request long-term Vendor Declaration
We support you in requesting and managing the required long-term vendor declaration (proofs of origin) for materials from vendors quickly, easily and clearly.
Preference determination
With the help of our SAP-based add-ons, you can perform costing directly in your SAP ERP or S/4HANA. We equally support fixed bills of material ("make to stock"), order-related costing ("make to order") as well as the costing of configurable materials ("assemble to order").
Output long-term Vendor Declaration
We support you in issuing the customer-side long-term vendor declarations: Based on the vendor-side long-term vendor declarations, the preference determination results and the created invoices to the customer, it is automatically determined whether a long-term vendor declaration can be issued for goods with preferential origin.

FAQ

You can read the most important information about the origin of goods and preferences here:

In foreign trade, there are different concepts of origin depending on the purpose. In connection with tariff preferences, the preferential origin of goods is of the greatest importance. The preferential origin of a product is based less on its logistical origin and more on the place where the greatest value is added. The evaluation does not only take into account the value added by the immediate supplier, but can also consider all levels of the value chain.

Preferential agreements regulate the conditions under which goods are exported to third countries at reduced or exempt rates of duty. The EU's preferential agreements with trading partners are negotiated by the European Commission.

Vendor declarations (VD) are used within the European Union to prove the preferential origin of goods. This means that vendors provide information about the origin of their goods so that customs benefits can be granted when exporting to third countries.

If longer-term relationships exist between vendor and customer, a new vendor declaration does not have to be issued for each delivery. Instead, a long-term vendor declaration (LTVD) can be issued for further deliveries of the same goods with a maximum validity of two years.
