The SPEEDI Daimler RFID solution from WSW Software enables Daimler's suppliers using SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA to consistently map the automaker's requirements for RFID processes in their SAP systems. The new SPEEDI solution covers two different RFID scenarios:
Daimler issues its suppliers with special load carriers that are equipped with RFID tags, which contain an identification number (ID). This ID can be used to uniquely identify the load carriers. SPEEDI Daimler RFID integrates these IDs directly into the space provided on the electronic delivery note in accordance with VDA 4913 or VDA 4987. To do this, the RFID code must first be read in via scanner software and stored in the SAP handling unit (SAP HU) in the VEKP CONTENT field.
The traffic light functions integrated into SPEEDI Daimler RFID signal immediately whether – and if so, which – RFID codes (and therefore special load carriers) are recognized. With regard to the transport status (for example, "Load Start"), the SPEEDI solution also checks whether the individual load carriers have already reached the HU user status assigned during the scanning process. If this check fails, the traffic light turns red and the transport processing is stopped.
The second RFID scenario concerns the material tags (VDA 4902 labels) for the universal load carriers, for example small load carriers: An RFID tag is affixed to the back of the label – the identification number of the associated load carrier must be assigned to this tag. SPEEDI Daimler RFID automatically generates the IDs in accordance with the Daimler specifications and stores them in the VEKP CONTENT field in the SAP HU. The process is performed using a SPEEDI feature that has been customized specifically for this purpose.
In order to assign the Daimler RFID label correctly and to code the RFID tag with the ID, RFID printer paper and an RFID-capable Zebra printer are required. Via the SPEEDI label engine, WSW Software provides the appropriate print program for this step and for the printout of the label. In addition, WSW Software provides the mappings and mapping specifications required for the ID to appear on the Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN).
